For every stockpile location, GWE developed practical recommendations that balanced technical performance with the realities of emergency construction. Depending on site conditions, recommendations included relocating stockpiles, installing temporary erosion and sediment controls, hydroseeding exposed surfaces to encourage rapid vegetation establishment, or removing material entirely where mitigation measures were unlikely to provide an acceptable level of protection.
This risk-based approach enabled recovery works to continue efficiently while reducing the likelihood of future slope instability, protecting sensitive waterways and supporting compliance with regional environmental expectations.
