PROJECT DESCRIPTION

This large residential development required earthworks covering an area in the order of 2,000 m2 to establish a stable building platform to support the large dwelling, swimming pool and surrounding built amenity and car parking areas.

With excavations in the order of 3.5 m deep along boundaries, temporary stabilization in the form of Steel H section soldier piles were installed along boundaries to prevent excavation collapse during construction adversely affecting neighbouring properties.

Filling and subgrade improvement was supervised during all stages of earthworks and foundation establishment, including soil conditions of associated retaining wall structures.

As a clifftop property, assessment of the cliff geology and regression rate was critical in confirming suitable setback distances to ensure the building platform, including

surrounding earthworks was built within a stable area over the typical 50-100 year design life.
