PROJECT DESCRIPTION
GWE Consulting Engineers was engaged to provide comprehensive 3-waters engineering services for the proposed Mainline Steam Train and Mercer-Te Paina Transport Museum development in Mercer.
The scope of work covered stormwater, wastewater, and potable (drinking) water systems, ensuring the project met regulatory standards under the Water Services Act 2021 and Waikato Regional Council regulations.

Drinking Water Supply
- Water supply demand balance calculations
- Proposed water treatment options to meet the Acceptable Solution for Roof Drinking Water Supplies
Stormwater Mitigation
- Developed a stormwater management plan, including preliminary designs for stormwater quality treatment wetlands and swale devices
- Conducted flood analysis and preliminary earthwork modelling for the wetland area
- Prepared design reports and drawings to support the Resource Consent application
Wastewater Management
- Conducted a review of available data and site investigations to design a wastewater treatment and disposal system
- Developed a wastewater engineering report for the resource consent application, including an assessment of environmental effects related to onsite discharge
