PROJECT DESCRIPTION

The Parkins Bay Development required a comprehensive Water Safety Plan (WSP) for a newly developed residential area at 1302 Wanaka-Mount Aspiring Road, Wanaka. This development includes 42 residential lots, encompassing shearer’s quarters, multi-bedroom residences, a lodge with associated amenities, and recreational facilities. Initially, the water treatment infrastructure was found non-compliant with the recently enacted Water Services Act 2021 and the Drinking Water Quality Assurance Rules 2022.

    SERVICES PROVIDED

Our engagement expanded to encompass a thorough compliance assessment and process enhancement recommendations to address the deficiencies identified during the WSP development.

    • Compliance Assessment: Conducted an in-depth review of the existing WTP against the new regulatory requirements, identifying several key areas where the facility did not meet the standards.
    • Water Safety Plan Preparation: Developed a WSP tailored to the scale and specific needs of Parkins Bay Development, ensuring all potential risks were assessed and adequately managed.
    • Process Improvements and Modifications: Recommended a series of cost-effective and easily implementable modifications, including the strategic relocation of online water quality monitoring systems, recalibration of alarm setpoints, and enhancements in system interlocks.
    • Operations and Maintenance Manual Development: Prepared a detailed O&M Manual for the WTP, providing comprehensive guidelines for daily operations, routine maintenance, and emergency procedures to ensure sustained compliance and operational reliability.
