PROJECT DESCRIPTION

GWE was engaged to provided environmental due diligence (EDD) services as part of a sales process for an industrial facility in the North Island.  The purpose of the investigation was to determine what environmental liabilities may exist at the site.

As part of the project GWE completed a preliminary site investigation (PSI). Based on the findings of the PSI a comprehensive environmental site audit was completed. Observations of potential areas of concern i.e., water disposal areas, mechanical workshops, hazardous good

storage areas, were identified and interviews undertaken with current site operators.

At the completion of the site audit a detailed site investigation (DSI), focusing on the findings of the PSI and audit, was undertaken. The DSI was coupled with a CCTV survey of pertinent drainage features at the site.

A conceptual site model/exposure pathway assessment was developed from the results of the DSI.  Material risks were identified, and recommendations made on potential development constraints and likely remediation works.

Concentrations of asbestos in soil presents a future long-term management challenge for the client. GWE assisted a quantity survey team in the development of remedial works to manage and mitigate the risk to current site users.

GWE successfully delivered the highly confidential project to budget, and within the challenging timeframes afforded by the land transfer.
