GWE has increased its expertise and service offering with the appointment of new leaders in land development engineering and stormwater and flood management.

CEO Gareth welcomed John Petrovic and Mona Liao to the business. John and Mona will strengthen the team with their long track record of delivering large scale projects that are at the forefront of urban design in New Zealand.

John has been appointed Technical Director, Land Development and brings nearly 20 years of land development engineering experience to GWE. John specialises in feasibility studies, infrastructure master planning and the design and project management of greenfield and brownfield developments. In his previous roles, John was Senior Civil Engineer at Envelope and a Principal Engineer at Harrison Grierson.
In these roles, John was responsible for managing a team of engineers and designers working on a wide range of projects including several 3,000 lot master-planned community developments, industrial and commercial precincts, brownfield infill developments with challenging servicing requirements and rural lifestyle developments.

Comment from John,
“I am very much looking forward to being part of the growing GWE team and contributing to the company’s track record in land development engineering, says John. The industry has faced some huge challenges in recent years with housing affordability and intensification. My focus will be to share my experience with the team and support our clients by providing innovative and cost-effective solutions. I enjoy helping people realise the development potential of their landholding while at the same time creating better communities to live in.

Mona has been appointed Principal Engineer, Stormwater and Flood Management and brings more than 12 years of civil and environmental engineering experience to GWE. Mona specialises in three waters management with a focus on catchment, network and flood modelling, flood risk management, drainage and green infrastructure design, catchment management and master planning.

In her previous role, Mona was Principal Engineer, Water Resources at Harrison Grierson where she led a team of modellers and engineers who were part of multi-disciplinary teams delivering large and technically challenging greenfield and brownfield projects for developers of residential and commercial/industrial land. Mona was responsible for the growth of technical expertise within the team which included the early adoption of latest design innovations and software developments and she led the graduate mentoring programme.

Comment from Mona,
“I am delighted to be joining a team that has the need and flexibility to take full advantage of my specialist skills, says Mona. What really excites me is the opportunity to work with the company’s management team to develop the vision and support the strategic growth of the water resources business. In this role, I look forward to expanding my technical and commercial skill sets and inspiring the growth of younger engineers.”
